Mia Lorenz

Mia founded the Research Academy together with Sia Shahrizad in 2013. Before this, she worked as a freelance researcher and as Associate Director for Custom Research & Insight at education and youth agency YouthSight.

Mia has worked with a range of education clients, public sector clients and FTSE 400 companies. Some of the clients she’s worked with are the University of Southampton, the University of Kingston, the University of Westminster, Goldsmiths, the Institute of Physics, the Student Loans Company, Cambridge Assessment, ACCA, Macmillan Cancer Support, the London Borough of Richmond, the New Economics Foundation, RBS, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest, Legal & General, and the UPP Group. Mia has presented research findings at public events and has published several studies.

Along the way, Mia has conducted research on a wide range of topics. This includes international primary and secondary education, higher education, university facilities and accommodation, financial and insurance products, public housing, homelessness, disability, respite care and environmental leadership. She’s always up for learning about something new, and has a particular interest in behavioural economics.

Mia was a Lecturer on the University of Westminster’s MA/MSc Applied Market and Social Research from 2006 to 2011. Here she was a module leader for four of the eight MA/MSc modules. She is now Course Leader for the Research Academy’s MRS Diploma.

ia is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She holds an MA in Applied Social and Market Research and a PG Cert in Higher Education from the University of Westminster.

Mia likes walking, cycling, cooking and baking. She also likes dressing up for Halloween. (Or for any other occasion. She’s a bit mad that way.)
